Day Four - Yellowstone! Part One

Anything you have ever heard about Yellowstone fades to nothing when you actually enter the park. It is really an incredible place. I had no idea what was in store for us.

Here are the photos...

Canadian geese with some goslings.
A view from the water where we saw the geese.

The kids at a hot spring. This one was called Beryl Spring. This was a runoff area and the water was still very hot.

Undine Falls. It speaks for itself.

Quoth the Raven, "I am one big bird!"

A hot spring.
And another. The smell of sulfur was very strong at all these hot springs and geysers.
Super Jane!!

This one's for Mom. See how the road is built. Most of the roads in Yellowstone are quite normal. There were a few times in the upper elevations that there were some "borderless" roads.
A buffalo grazing at Mammoth Hot Spring. It paid no attention to all the people taking pictures.
Mammoth Hot Spring was disappointing. It was a time when it was not very active so most of the area was dry. Oh, well. Can't have it all.
Elk! Saw lots of females but only this one multi-point male.

Our only bear sighting. A cute black bear. There were probably about 100 people with cameras taking its picture. It paid us no mind at all and ate lunch at its leisure.
My kids playing in the snow. This was a real treat for a family from Houston.
More pictures tomorrow.
