First, a forgotten snow photo from yesterday's visit. Just for you, Mom!!
This is the Upper Falls right where it goes over. It really was an amazing thing to see. The amount of water going over was incredible. I know that there are many falls that are bigger, but you seldom get this close.

The Lower Falls from a wider angle.
Another First Day photo, as we were leaving the park, we came across a herd of buffalo just walking down our road! Needless to say, they didn't care that we were hungry so they took their own sweet time crossing the road. After a few of them had crossed, Lenore snapped this one of a baby getting a drink.
Firehole Falls. Just gorgeous.
Another view of Firehole Falls.
Silex Spring. Each of these springs is so beautiful. Some are really special and those are the ones I have chosen to post. By no means does that minimize the others.
Another hot spring. Unfortunately, it wasn't named.
The Surprise Pool. I don't know what the surprise was. These pools are deceptively deep. That might be it.
The Excelsior Geyser. This one erupted regularly until 1890 when an eruption occurred that was so intense that its water supply was disrupted. It lay dormant until sometime in the 1950s when it exploded again. It has been dormant since. According to the plaque at the park the eruption of this geyser makes Old Faithful look like the bubbles that come up from your straw when you blow into your Coca-Cola.
Old Faithful. Of course, we pulled into the parking lot and were headed to the site when we looked over the trees and saw that it was already erupting. GAK!! So, the next estimated time was in about an hour so we went back to a couple of places and came back and saw the eruption as it was meant to be seen. It is every bit as enjoyable as it is billed.
Over 8000 feet!! Believe it or not, it is not even close to what we will hit later on.
A frozen lake!! It was thawing out, but there was still a lot of it frozen over.
A beautiful landscape picture.
Unfortunately, the weather was so overcast that this was the only picture from the Grand Tetons National Park that was worth posting. It was a moose out grazing. In the background, you can see how the clouds lopped off the tops of the Tetons.
For those of you that don't know, my son's nickname is Moose. Hence, he was quite excited when we found this post office.
An arch made of antlers in Jackson, Wyoming. There were two of these that we saw in town.
So that ends our trip to Yellowstone. It was absolutely splendid. I am already thinking about our next trip up here. The timing was perfect. School hadn't let out so there were no large crowds. We never felt crowded or rushed to see anything. The only bad thing was the overcast day. But you can't plan the weather.
On to Utah!
